Fiona has had a keen interest in Speech and Language Therapy since a young age and decided to follow a career in the field. In June 2016, she graduated with a BSc in Speech and Language Therapy from University College Cork. With a keen interest in the area of Austism Spectrum Disorder, Fiona’s completed a research project entitled ‘Parents’ perceptions of TalkAbility’. This was accepted as a poster presentation at the 2016 International Association of Logopedics and Phoniatrics (IALP).

Fiona’s special interest is in audiology, and she is currently completing her MSc in Audiolgy in the University of Cork. Fiona also has experience with Applied Behaviour Analysis. She has experience with children with communication difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder and has volunteered in a school for children with ASD during June and July of 2016. Fiona is also Lámh certified and even knows how to perform a song or two through sign!

Fiona works closely with parents and children to establish appropriate goals following assessment. From there an individualised therapy plan is developed to best meet the needs of the client.

Alongside her studies, Fiona is an active member within the newly established ASD and Deafness Special Interest Groups for SLTs. Through these groups Fiona continues to develop her skills as a SLT by learning from other professionals.

Later this year Fiona hopes to engage in specialised Speech and Language Therapist training for clients with Cochlear Implants. Fiona is based in the Naas clinic on Saturdays.
