Speech and Language Therapist
Kirsten joined the Caint team in March 2017, she is based in the Naas and Portmarnock clinics. Kirsten has graduated with a Masters degree in Speech and Language Therapy from the University of Limerick. She is a member of the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists (IASLT) and her qualification is recognised by the Regulating Health and Social Care Professional body (CORU).
Prior to becoming a Speech and Language Therapist Kirsten graduated from the University of Essex with a Masters in Psycholinguistics and Neurolinguistics. She has experience working with a broad range of clients including young children with communication difficulties, adults with intellectual disabilities and acquired brain injuries and clients with additional needs.
Kirsten provides assessment and individualised intervention plans to target a client’s specific needs, while taking in to consideration areas of strengths and difficulty. She is aware of the importance of establishing functionally relevant goals that will benefit the client and their family while incorporating the latest evidenced based interventions. Kirsten has also worked alongside primary schools in providing materials and supporting their implementation in daily routines.
Kirsten is qualified in Lámh Module One and has completed a PECS Level One course. Kirsten is trained in the administration and scoring of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2). Kirsten carries out ADOS-2 assessments with a Psychologist regularly.
Kirsten has experience working with a multidisciplinary team in order obtain a comprehensive view of the client, this can involve occupational therapy, educational psychology and clinical psychology. Kirsten believes in taking an evidence based approach in treatment to ensure the best outcomes.
