Christine Hurley joined the CAINT speech therapy team in March 2016 to work in our Cork speech therapy clinic.
Christine graduated from UCC with a BSc (Hons) in Speech and Language Therapy in 2009. Since then, Christine has gained a range of experience working across different organisations within Ireland.
Christine has previously worked with the HSE in the midlands as well as with a network disability team in Kildare and a voluntary organisation in North Cork. She gained experience in assessment, differential diagnosis and planning individualised therapy programmes for children and young people presenting with a range of communication difficulties, e.g. speech and language delay, specific language impairment, intellectual disability, ASD, stammering. Christine also gained experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing individualised family support plans and training programmes to parents and teachers, as well as tailored individualised therapy programmes. Christine has worked in a number of special school settings and ASD units.
Christine has completed a range of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses to expand her expertise. She completed two Hanen parent training programmes (It Takes Two to Talk, More Than Words) and has previously run these programmes for parents on a number of occasions. She has also completed PECS and LAMH (module 1 and QQI Level V) training. She also completed her Dysphagia training with the Manchester Post-Basic Dysphagia course in 2011 and the SOS Approach to Feeding course in 2014. In addition to these, Christine has also attended a number of short CPD courses such as; Alex Kelly Social Skills training, AAC short courses (Principles of Assessment in AAC, AAC Solutions, and AAC Interventions), ADOS training.
Christine’s a full member of the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists (IASLT) and a member of Independent Speech-Language Therapists of Ireland (ISTI).
